My neighbors recently almost burned our building down. I have been thinking of getting renters insurance. I would hate to lose everything like that.
What kind of things can and can’t be covered?
How will I know when I find a good plan?
Any suggestions on a Good Company?
Anything I should look out for?
Any other tips or suggestions?
How much should it cost monthly or yearly approximately?
Thank you for any and all help!

I live in an apt complex, and the apt complex sent me a letter saying I needed renters insurance to resign the lease, they are requiring ,000 of property insurance. I told them I don’t have ,000 worth of stuff to insure so I got ,000 to insure my personal property.(which is all i need to cover my stuff) They are still requiring me to get ,000 worth when I don’t even need to. By law are they allowed to make you get a minimum amount of renters insurance? I have more than enough for liability insurance but they still want me to get ,000 for property.

To renew my apartment lease, the management is making me to take out a 100K property liability insurance policy that covers water, fire, smoke, or explosion damage to their building. Is this legal? This policy is not to be confused with renters insurance which would cover my property.

My wife and I are in the process of buying a house. We were able to get an 80/15/5 mortgage totalling about 0,000 with no problems since our credit scores are both in the 780s. However, when we applied for home insurance we got rejected. We were shocked to find out the "insurance" credit score in New Jersey is about 790 which is in the bottom 20%. We have never owned a home before and never filed a claim under renters insurance. I tried looking up an explanation online through truecredit.com and some of the reasons made no sense such as I have not had the same credit card for at least 18 years. That would have meant that I would have had to have a credit card since I was 16.
Can someone please explain the madness? The insurance agent, our real estate lawyer, and the bank have never heard of such an instance where the mortgage was no issue but the insurance due to credit is.

Can a landlord legally rent a house without carrying insurance on the house or property?
I was speaking more of injuries on the property. Renters insurance covers personal effects.

My family lived in a rental house. There was a fire in the kitchen which totally destroyed it (the kitchen). The house is not liveable and we did not have renters insurance. We found temporary shelter, but the landlord is cancelling our lease, keeping our deposit and the payment for May’s rent, which I had already sent him. He says he is keeping the payment to help him pay his insurance deductible, or we’d have the pay out the lease for the rest of the term. Is that right or legal even. Need help quick!

We have purchased a trampoline (the safest model possible) and have moved into a rental property, the landlord is concerned about his umbrella insurance not covering it. I would have thought this is our responsibility as we are the owners of the item, not the landlord – can anyone help? Also does anyone know of an insurance company in MA that will cover on renters insurance? Thank you.
